Rates reflect the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta recommended fees for psychological services. Standard therapy sessions last 50 minutes; however, some individuals prefer longer sessions and some treatment modalities are better suited to 75 minute sessions. During your Initial Assessment (first appointment), Actualize will work with you to determine the length of sessions that will best suit your needs and goals.

Health Care & Benefits Coverage
Private psychological services are not covered by Alberta Health Services; however, clients may offset the cost of therapy through employee benefits. At the end of each session, clients are issued a receipt for psychological counselling services that may be used to obtain reimbursement from employee benefits or insurance company. Actualize encourages all clients to check their psychological benefits coverage in advance of pursuing counselling.
For the convenience of our clients, Actualize can also direct bill to the following providers. Usually benefits programs will cover a portion of the appointment cost, so clients will be responsible for paying the remaining balance during the appointment.
- Alberta Blue Cross
- Medavie Blue Cross (RCMP, Canadian Forces, Veterans Affairs, some EMS, and others)
- Alberta School Employee Benefit Program (ASEBP)
Please note that many large insurance providers (like Sunlife and Manulife) do not allow psychologists to direct bill.
